We're here 24 hours a day, every day of the year.: (02) 9413 1377

Someone has died.
What do I do now?

Very little has to happen straight away.

Here's what does, and what can wait.

Call us 24 hours: (02) 9413 1377

If they died at home, and it was expected

Call their doctor or palliative care team. They'll confirm the death.

Then call us on (02) 9413 1377, at any hour.

There's no need to rush. Many families take some time to sit with the person first.

If the death was sudden or unexpected

Call 000. The police will attend, and the death may be reported to the Coroner.

You can still call us straight away on (02) 9413 1377.

We'll explain what the Coroner's process means for the funeral, and work around it.

If they died in hospital or a nursing home

The staff will look after the first steps.

Tell them Maurer Family Funerals is your funeral director, then call us on (02) 9413 1377.

We'll arrange everything with the hospital or the home.

What can wait

Choosing the coffin, the flowers, the service and the notices can all wait a day or two.

When you're ready, we'll go through it with you, in person, by phone or from home.

We'll register the death with NSW Births, Deaths and Marriages and help you order the death certificate.
