Applying for a death certificate

3 March 2022

How do I apply for a death certificate?

When someone close to you passes away you may be responsible for closing their accounts and making arrangements for their assets. Generally to do this you will need the person’s death certificate.

Maurer Family Funerals funeral director normally registers the death on your behalf and applies for the death certificate. Talk to us about what to do, our job is to make these legislative steps as easy as possible at a very difficult time.

We will ask you for some personal information about the person who has died. This includes:
* birth, death and burial
* family members and
* home address and occupation.

The funeral director will register the death within 7 days of burial or cremation.
